Handmade brooches by Karen Fall - each one is unique.

"I was initially inspired to make the Geisha brooch through my admiration for the ancient traditions of the Geisha, whose work is not, as is popularly believed, connected with prostitution. The actual translation of the word geisha is “artist” and the Geisha is educated in every aspect of performance art including music, voice, movement, and dance. Her male and female patrons honor the Geisha’s female energy.

A Geisha aspires to reflect the physical and spiritual beauty intrinsic in every human being. I wanted to honor this concept — one integral to Parity Productions' mission — by making my Geisha brooch available exclusively and affordably through Parity’s online store.

When creating the Geisha brooch, I fire the mould in a kiln, cool it down, then wash it in a solution of water and oxide to accentuate its fine detail. Every brooch is hand-painted individually. No two brooches are alike. Once the brooch is painted, I add a transparent glaze, then refire it, before adding a gold lustre finish, followed by a third firing in the kiln. Each brooch takes 2 hours to make.

Everyone measures time differently, but for me the time I spend creating each Geisha brooch are moments of intense joy — creating works with passion to inspire passion.

Like Parity Productions." - Karen Fall
